GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — With Election Day now less than a month away, Vice President Kamala Harris made her first appearance in Grand Rapids since receiving her party's nomination for President.
Harris has had several high-profile surrogates campaign on her behalf in the area, including Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders earlier this month.
Harris began speaking in Riverside Park in Grand Rapids around 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Supporters were ready for the Vice President hours before the rally lining up early this morning to attend.
In addition to this being Harris' first stop in Grand Rapids, it's also her first stop in the region since she was in Portage in July, just before becoming the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party.
This is a key region for both former President Donald Trump's and Vice President Kamala Harris' campaigns.
Trump and his running mate Ohio Senator JD Vance have made multiple stops to the area in the last few months.
Kent County was once a reliable populous Republican stronghold but has become a widely considered bellwether county in the last few election cycles.
