Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says he is “in it to win,” and whatever happens in the March 8 Michigan Primary, he will not drop out of the race.
Sanders held a big rally Friday at Grand Valley State University and has put a lot of time, money and effort into Michigan. But he said a second place finish to Hillary Clinton in the primary Tuesday will not end his campaign for the nomination.
“We are in this race to win and we are in this race to the convention in Philadelphia in July,” he said Saturday in Grand Rapids. “When we started this campaign we were 3 percent in the polls. Today, we are closing the gap all over this country.
"On Super Tuesday, we won four very significant double digit victories, and we are looking forward to doing very well in Michigan."
Sanders also said Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder should resign if his negligence led to lead contamination of the Flint water supply.
“In the year 2016 in the United States of America, the richest country in the history of the world, we should not be poisoning our children," Sanders said. "If a governor has allowed that to happen, that governor should resign for dereliction of duty.”
Sanders and Hillary Clinton have scheduled a debate Sunday in Flint.
