GRAND RAPIDS, Mich - Long before there was ArtPrize, the Westside was bustling with Pulaski Days.
The polish festival, brings together people from all over the city to eat traditional polish food and drinks. It's named after Polish-born nobleman Casmir Pulaski who fought in the American Revolution.
The big draws are the food, the drinks and the fun.
"The first full weekend of October every year, it's the big hoorah for Grand Rapids to see what the Polish community is really all about," Fifth Street Hall president Beverly Londo said.
Whatever you're after, there's a place for you during Pulaski Days.
"We're helping to build up the Westside, so we really invite anyone who has not been involved in Pulaski Days to come down and join us," Fifth Street Hall Financial Secretary Debra Nave said.
The Fifth Street Hall is one of the oldest in the city, attracting the large crowds since the beginning.
"This is just the beginning, by 5 or 6 o'clock this evening we'll be at capacity at both floors and there will more than likely be a waiting line out the door," Londo said.
Although you may have to wait in line for a little while, organizers say it's well worth the wait.
"Come early and ready to wait in line if you're not a member, but don't be weary of that if you see a line because people come in and out throughout the whole night," Nave said.
"It's a great opportunity for people to get out and experience the halls, socialize, network, whatever you have to do it's a great time."
