What's Up This Weekend: Hudsonville Fair, 28th Street Metro Cruise, Maker Faire, Polish Festival

Many West Michigan kids are back in school, but the summer fun isn't over yet.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —

Every Wednesday, we help you plan your weekend, with Grand Rapids Kids. With the end of August, comes the start of school for many kids in West Michigan. But there’s still plenty of fun to be had this summer.

If you love the circus, magic shows, carnivals and grandstand events, you’ll want to check out the Hudsonville Community Fair

On Wednesday there are truck and tractor pulls, Thursday there’s an off road derby, on Friday you can catch supercross racing and on Saturday you can check out the monster trucks. 

Kids Day is Thursday and Friday, with frog and turtle races and pedal pulls. 

Special Needs Day is also Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be free wagon and carnival rides with an assistant. 

Tickets for adults are $5 at the gate and kids under 12 get in free. 

If you’re looking for more fun to fill your weekend, the 28th Street Metro Cruise is Friday from 4 to 10 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Rogers Plaza in Wyoming. 

16 miles of cool cars will be on display between Cascade and Grandville along 28th Street. 

The free event draws 275,000 people in two days to the city.

The Grand Rapids Maker Faire, also known as the greatest show and tell, is also happening Saturday.

The Maker Faire is a venue for engineers, artists, scientists, crafters, and the like to show off their hobbies, experiments and projects.

It’s all happening at the Grand Rapids Public Museum from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. 

Celebrating 40 years this weekend is the Polish Festival in Grand Rapids. 

Head to Rosa Parks Circle to celebrate the Polish culture, with entertainment, food and drinks. 

The free festival is happening from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
