ALLENDALE, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Grand Valley State football team departed Thursday night for the long trek to Michigan Tech in the Upper Peninsula.
The Lakers hope to return home with a key win.
GVSU faces the unbeaten Huskies at 1 p.m. Saturday. Michigan Tech is 4-0 and ranked No. 20 in this week's American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll.
The Lakers and head coach Matt Mitchell have won three straight games and have gotten back to .500 since dropping their first three games of the season.
They enter Saturday's matchup thin at running back after injuries to Michael Ratay and Kirk Spencer. Senior Chris Robinson is expected to get a bulk of the carries.
GVSU's defense looks to build off last week's performance. It allowed only three points in last week's win over Wayne State.
