Michigan football promotes togetherness by watching animal predator videos before games

The Wolverines take a unique approach when it comes to the day before gameday.

HOUSTON — It's the night before the national championship game between Michigan and Washington.

Both teams are making their last minute preparations to get ready for the monumental showdown.

However, the Wolverines take a unique approach when it comes to the day before gameday.

They watch animal predator videos. No. That is not a joke.

Jim Harbaugh revealed this is an activity that takes place before every game.

"The perfect fighting unit to me is a pack of wolves, wolf pack," Harbaugh said. "And you see them. You see them gathered together before the fight. You see them going together going to the fight. You see them together in the fight. You see them celebrating after the fight."

The team will get together to watch a documentary on lions, tigers, cheetahs or any big cat devouring their prey. The Michigan head coach said it resonates with the players to feel a sense of togetherness before they get ready for a battle on the gridiron.

It's a practice that has yielded results.

"I love them," Harbaugh said. "Who doesn't? Some of those great type of things. But when it gets to how the world wants to turn you into something — we kind of allow ourselves to devolve into a pack of wolves. That's what we want to channel. Probably nature's greatest fighting unit."

The country will have to wait and see if the documentary pays off Monday night at the national championship in Houston, Texas.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
