North Muskegon alum helps out Michigan football team behind the scenes

NORTH MUSKEGON, Mich. — There are just a few days until the college football national championship game between Michigan and Washington.

Many people have played a role in getting the Wolverines to the biggest stage in the game, from the coaches and players to so many behind the scenes — including one North Muskegon High School grad.

Michigan sophomore Molly Stewart works on the nutrition team for Michigan. The former Norseman is responsible for restocking the facility, handing out water at practices and making smoothies for the Wolverines. Whatever her boss wants her to do, Molly does it.

"Just to be a part of that team and be a part of that atmosphere, it is just really fun," Molly said. "I really love what I do there."

She's fired up to play a part in the success of the maize and blue, especially because she gets to be closer to her brother — walk-on offensive lineman Noah Stewart

"I love it so much," Molly said. "It doesn't even feel like a job when I am there, honestly. It's super cool to be around the players. It's really fun to be able to work with my brother. We go to the same school. I do not see him much because he is always busy with football. It is just so fun to work there."

The fact Molly gets to spend time with Noah warms their mother Kerry Stewart's heart.

"They are there to support each other too, which is really nice," Kerry said. "They see each other at practice all of the time. She loves working for the football team. She absolutely loves it."

With two Stewarts a part of the football program, it makes Saturdays in the fall fun for the family.

"She is such a huge football fan," Molly's dad Mike Stewart said. "To have her even get accepted into Michigan and to be a part of the football program has been so much fun for all of us. It's been a fun ride for our family and the whole community."

Molly is unable to work on gamedays, but she is around the team Monday through Friday.

She hopes to become a dietician one day and will apply to Michigan's School of Public Health.
