INDIANAPOLIS — The Colorado State Rams were not overwhelmed by the moment.
Competing in its first NCAA Tournament in nine years, six seed CSU looked poised racing out to a 36-29 halftime edge on the 11 seed Michigan Wolverines in the first round of the NCAA Tournament from Indianapolis.
The Rams were led by star junior guards Isaiah Stevens and David Roddy who wreaked havoc on Michigan's perimeter defense. Stevens led the way with 12 points on 4-5 three-point shooting while Roddy had seven points and three rebounds.
The Wolverines meanwhile struggled to find offense, tallying only four points in a ten-minute stretch. During a time out with seven minutes to go before the break, Michigan coach Juwan Howard told CBS his players were nervous. Whatever the case, unlike CSU, U of M failed to hit a three before heading into the locker room going 0-7.
Michigan center Hunter Dickinson contributed 12 points, four boards, and three blocks but beyond him, the Wolverines could not use their size to their advantage, only outrebounding the Rams 14-13 at the break.
The winner of this game plays against three seed Tennessee or 14 seed Longwood Saturday.
