ANN ARBOR, Mich. — No. 2 Michigan Connor Stalions has resigned after a NCAA investigation for allegedly stealing the play-calling signals used by Wolverines opponents according to a report from the Associated Press.
The school released a statement Friday stating that the staffer resigned, initial reports before the statement came out were that he had been fired.
This comes after Stalions who was suspended without pay two weeks ago, did not appear for a scheduled hearing on Friday. The Associated Press reports that Stalions informed the school through his attorney he would not participate any internal or external investigations.
Bruce Feldman psted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Friday night saying Connor Stalions and his attorney gave a statement to The Athletic.
Reports continue to say Multiple Big Ten schools found records of tickets purchased in the Stalions’ name to their games and surveillance video of the people sitting in those seats pointing cell phones toward the field.
In late October, Athletic Director Warde Manuel issued a one-sentence statement saying that Connor Stalions had been suspended with pay pending the conclusion of the NCAA investigation. Stalions had not been previously identified by the school but was named in an ESPN report alleging he is a key figure in the probe.
The Wolverines (8-0) who started their season with coach Jim Harbaugh serving a university-imposed three-game suspension for a still unresolved NCAA infractions case, play The Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday. Harbaugh has denied any knowledge or involvement in plotting to steal signs.
