BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ferris State University men's golf team is returning to Big Rapids with some brand new hardware.
The Bulldogs had an impressive showing at the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships in Winter Garden, Florida.
The team as a whole finished ninth in the nation, while Nathan Kraynyk finished as the national runner-up.
The Bulldogs finished strong shooting par as a team over the last 18 holes, but they fell just short of the quarterfinals, finishing just outside of the top eight. They ended four strokes behind the next closest competitor West Texas A&M.
West Florida took home the championship with a 14-under par score.
"It was an incredible season by an impressive group of young men, who represented our program and our university with class, dedication and grit," Ferris State head coach Sam Stark said. "We were disappointed to fall a bit short of match play, but never disappointed in the effort by this group."
Kraynyk tied for the second spot on the leaderboard, shooting a 70, 69 and 67 in his three rounds of play.
"What a week of golf for this Dawg," Stark said. "He was an absolute incredible competitor and gave everything he had for his teammates throughout his Bulldog career."
This was the Bulldogs' first trip to the national championship since 2019 and their 17th time overall.
