PUEBLO, Colo. — No. 4 Grand Valley State used a dominating run game and suffocating defense to claim an impressive 35-10 road win at No. 21 Colorado State-Pueblo. The Lakers, who improve to 2-0 on the year versus the top two teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, will host Lincoln (Calif) in the annual Family Day contest next Saturday (Sept. 17) at Lubbers Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Due to technical issues Colorado State-Pueblo was unable to provide a post game box score. Look for game statistics on Sunday.

GVSU ran for five touchdowns on the evening, the first coming on an 18-yard run by sophomore wide receiver Kyle Nott on the Lakers' opening possession. Sophomore PK Kollin Kralapp added the first of his five PATs for a 7-0 lead. Following a couple of miscues in the return game CSU-Pueblo cut the lead to 7-3, but TD runs by junior QB Cade Peterson and junior RB Tariq Reid, the Lakers built a 21-10 haltime lead. Reid added another TD run in the second half and sophomore QB Avery Moore added a TD run for the final score of 35-10.

The Laker defense dominated the game, allowing just three plays of significant yardage in four quarters of action. It was a total team effort on the defensive side of the ball from all three levels. GVSU limited the Thunderwolves to what is believed to be under 250 yards of total offense while forcing three turnovers.
