KENTWOOD, Mich. — The East Kentwood High School girls basketball team is cooking with gas now.
The Falcons are a well-oiled machine and have been for quite some time.
However this year, East Kentwood hit the 20-win milestone for the first time since 2018.
"Our chemistry has gotten stronger than ever over the past season," East Kentwood senior Makayla Porter said. "We just work really hard for what we have right now. We are going to keep on pushing and get our goals. We practice every day. We talk to each other and motivate each other every day and continue to push each other."
That 20th victory came in the district semis against Hudsonville on Wednesday.
The Falcons feel primed for a big postseason run as they are having a very special season.
"I think it is the chemistry," East Kentwood head coach Eric Large said. "A lot of them I have had for three or four years. I've got five seniors. Even our reserves, they push the seniors. When I have a sub, we don't fall off that much."
East Kentwood will match up with Byron Center on Friday. Tip for that one is at 7 at Grandville.
