GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Hudsonville visited Jenison in the first gridiron meeting between the two schools since Jenison left the OK Red after the 2011 season.
Hudsonville got on the board first thanks to a short punt after forcing a three and out by Jenison. Ben Dykstra connected on a 42-yard field goal to make it 3-0 early in the first quarter. Later in the quarter Dykstra hit a 47-yard field goal to increase the lead to 6-0.
Early in the second Hudsonville would increase the lead to 12-0 on a 2 yard touchdown run by Bryce Herrema. That score was set up by a 37 yard strike from Drew Martinie to Trevor Poisson.
The Wildcat defense would stiffen after that, giving Jenison's offense time to start rolling.
Kyle Nott's 15 yard touchdown late in the half cut the lead to 12-7.
Jarel Jackson's 78 yard touchdown early in the third quarter gave Jenison a 14-12 lead. Knott's second scoring run made the final score Jenison 20 Hudsonville 12.
Jenison improves to 4-1 before visiting Muskegon next Friday. Hudsonville is also 4-1 on the year, they host Grandville next Friday.
