ROCKFORD, Mich. — The Rockford High School girls basketball team is on a roll once again.
The Rams have just lost five games combined over the last three years, and there's been many impressive pieces to that puzzle.
However, one senior is enjoying her flowers and she deserves it too.
That would be Grace Lyons. She hit the game winning shot for Rockford in the state championship last year.
This year, she became the program's all-time leading scorer.
To no surprise, Lyons is not taking any credit for this incredible accomplishment.
"I was really excited but it came down to my teammates and coaches helping me along the way," Lyons said. "It has been such a fun ride and I can't wait to keep going."
However, her coach Brad Wilson knows she has earned this honor. Just last week, Lyons became the first girl in the history of the program to hit the 1,000-point milestone.
"It didn't happen by accident," Wilson said. "Since she was a little kid. She worked really hard in the gym. It is one of those things where she's had great teammates. I think if she had played at other schools she would have about 2,000 points. She is always about the team. She is always about making the extra pass. For her to hit the school record and being as unselfish as she is, that makes me really proud as a coach."
Lyons and the Rams do not play again until next week in the postseason begins.
Whenever her time in Rockford comes to an end, Lyons will head to Big Rapids to play basketball at Ferris State.
