GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Since the 2018-2019 season, Eric Taylor has been leading the Grand Rapids Christian boys basketball team. He's won plenty of big games in his coaching career, but on Wednesday night he hit a milestone.
With the 46-42 dub over Northview, Taylor earned his 100th career victory coaching the Eagles.
During his six years in charge, Grand Rapids Christian has never lost more than six games in a season.
Despite the success, Taylor is not taking any credit for it.
"It is great," Taylor said. "Without so many great players and great coaches around me, this doesn't happen. I am just thankful for my guys. It is all about relationships. All about relationships. I love my guys. They come to work everyday. It is a brotherhood."
His players say it is an honor to suit up for him.
"You can look at him as more than a coach," Grand Rapids Christian senior Malachi Hooser said. "He's a father. He's a mentor. You can just look up to him. It's very huge especially in a game like this, it means everything."
Grand Rapids Christian is 17-2 overall on the season with three games remaining before the playoffs.
