It's the last week of 13 On Your Sidelines this year! But don't worry, you'll still find all the highlights from state championships in our regular sports coverage.
13 On Your Sidelines is here to bring you all the exciting action for the 2024 high school football season.

MICHIGAN, USA — It's the last week of our 13 On Your Sidelines show for the 2024 season. As things narrow down and we get closer to finding out who will be our state champions 13 ON YOUR SIDE will still be covering all the highlights in our regular sports coverage.

But for now, here's how Friday night went for the teams still fighting for those spots.

Game of the Week: Forest Hills Central at Zeeland West

Friday night was a rematch between 10-1 Zeeland West and 9-2 Forest Hills Central. Zeeland West took down Forest Hills Central in Week 6 this year with a crushing 28-7 defeat, which also marked the beginning of a six-game winning streak for Zeeland West.

However, they're not the only team with a winning streak in this game. Forest Hills Central has been on a five-game winning streak, and won't give it up easily as they're the defending State Champions.

Forest Hills Central beat Zeeland West last year in the state semifinals. This would be their 5th overall meeting, and a tie-breaker as the series between the two teams was 2-2 going into the game.

The winner Friday night would go on to compete in the State Semi-Finals against whoever wins between Dewitt and Petoskey.

Part 1: Forest Hills Central vs. Zeeland West, Portage Central vs. Byron Center, South Christian vs. Whitehall

Forest Hills Central vs. Zeeland West: Zeeland West won, 36-20.

Portage Central vs. Byron Center: Byron Center won, 52-14.

South Christian vs. Whitehall: South Christian won, 28-21.

Part 2: Portland vs. Niles, Kalamazoo United vs. Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Portland vs. Niles: Niles won, 37-34.

Kalamazoo United vs. Grand Rapids Catholic Central: GR Catholic Central won, 21-14.

13 On Your Sidelines MVP of the Year:

You may recognize our MVP of the Year since Jayden "Tank" Terry took the title last year as well. The Grandville running back took the title last year as a sophomore and again this year as a junior. This year, Terry put up 1,652 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on the ground. He also has 76 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. With his senior year ahead of him he might go for a three-year MVP streak. Congrats Jayden!
