VOTE | 13 On Your Sidelines MVP candidates for Week 5

We're more than halfway through the regular season, and we need your help deciding whose week five performance stood out from all the rest.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The high school football regular season is more than halfway through. We're getting a better idea of who's contending for a conference championship, and who's poised to make a deep playoff run. But what we need a little help with is deciding whose standout performance during week five was the most impressive.

These are the latest nominees for the 13 On Your Sidelines MVP of the Week.

Vaughn Veltman - Tri County quarterback/defensive back

Tri County is one of four teams in the CSAA Gold off to a 4-1 start on the season, and the play of their junior quarterback is a big reason for all that success happening up in Howard City. Friday night against Kent City, Vaughn Veltman completed 15 of his 20 passes on the night for 230 yards. He added four rushing touchdowns for the Vikings, as they beat the Eagles 40-22.

Micah Carefelle - Mona Shores wide receiver/linebacker

When you're playing your archrivals, your playmakers have to step up. That's exactly what Micah Carefelle did on Friday night when 5-0 Mona Shores beat Muskegon 42-27. The senior wide receiver caught seven passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns. He also threw a 52-yard touchdown pass as the Sailors charted a course toward victory against the Big Reds.

Bryce Colbert - North Muskegon quarterback

North Muskegon is off to a 4-1 start and the Norsemen are in a great position to win their third consecutive West Michigan Conference Rivers division championship. They wouldn't be where they are right now without great quarterback play, and junior Bryce Colbert is showing he's the guy for the job. Friday night, Colbert completed 15 of his 18 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns, in a 42-6 win over Hart.
