BELDING, Mich. — The head football coach at Belding High School can now add "hall of famer" to his résumé.
Belding Public Schools announced Tuesday on its Facebook page that Monty Price has been inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Price has been the head coach at Belding since 2019. Since then, the Black Knights have won twice as many games as they have lost with a combined record of 32-16 under Price's tenure. They have qualified for the playoffs four of the five years he's been there. They've also won the OK Silver conference championship three times.
Before taking the reigns at Belding, Price was the coach at Reed City for 20 years. He led the Coyotes to a combined record of 147-64 during his time in Reed City. The Coyotes qualified for the playoffs 15 times under Price.
The Coaches Association has not publicly announced who else will be part of its 2024 Hall of Fame induction class. In 2023 four West Michigan coaches were inducted, including Thomas Arthur Ellinger of Thornapple Kellogg, Mark Russell of Lowell. Jim Schaak of West Catholic, and Mark Tamminga of South Christian.
West Michigan was well represented when the coaches association named its list of statewide coaches and assistant coaches of the year on Monday.
