MONTAGUE, Mich. — The Megatron of Montague officially has his new home.
Wildcats star wide receiver Isaiah Atchison signed to play college football at Central Michigan on Wednesday morning. This was a no brainer move for the future Chippewa. He committed to Central Michigan almost as soon as he received the scholarship offer.
"I fell in love with them the second I started talking to them," Atchison said. "They already made me feel like I was part of the team even at the first camp that I went to."
The day was very emotional for Atchison. The three-star recruit shared a moment with his dad during their hug after he signed.
"Of everything that him and I have been through the car rides, all of these sporting camps that we have gone to just us two and a lot of the past stuff going on, us all knowing it, this is another huge stepping stone that we can both be there with each other for this journey.," Atchison said.
With his six-foot eight-inch frame, the high school senior seemed destined for college basketball. However, the gridiron was calling his name.
"I knew could go for either or but once I hit the football field with them I was like this is where I want to go," Atchison said. "This is what I want to do there."
Atchison will grayshirt initially when he gets to campus, and is just excited to make an impact in any was possible.
"Just me making a difference in anything they want me to do or I get thrown into will be huge for me," Atchison said.
Atchison is the first Division 1 football player to come out of Montague since current Reeths-Puffer head coach Cody Kater back in 2010.
