Northview boys basketball off to an impressive undefeated start

It is the second time in the past three years Northview is unblemished in the loss column midway through January.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — There are only a handful of high school boys basketball teams in the state let alone West Michigan that are still undefeated.

One of those squads is Northview.

The Wildcats are 7-0 to begin the season. It is the second time in the past three years Northview is unblemished in the loss column midway through January.

"A lot of people talk about family in the programs and stuff like that," Northview head coach David Chana said. "We really do have a family. We spend a lot of time together on and off the floor. We are about each other. I could tell you story after story on how these kids look after each other and care for each other. I think that's why we have had the success that we have had because of the relationships we have built."

The Wildcats are certainly proud of that, but they know there is more work to be done. Northview wants to take things one step at a time.

"I got to be honest, we don't even think about that stuff," Chana said. "I know it sounds cliche, but the biggest game for us is the next game on the schedule. It's something we have here at Northview and what we do and how we operate."

Next up for the Wildcats is a road matchup against East Grand Rapids on Friday.
