GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Some like to talk the talk. Others prefer to walk the walk.
Ottawa Hills High School senior Craig Hureskin lets his play do the talking and his performance this season has been nothing short of historic.
The Bengals star is a walking bucket averaging 26 points and 2.6 assists per game. He set the single-game points record at Ottawa Hills pouring in 51 points against Wayland.
The records do not stop there. Hureskin made 10 threes in a single contest. Twice.
He has also scored the most 30-point games in school history with six and has hit the 1,000-point milestone.
In January, Hureskin put up 31 points per game while shooting 70 percent from deep. He is also on his way to another school record of 80 threes made for his career.
Hureskin just loves the game.
"Just hooping," Hureskin said. "Getting to the bucket and scoring. Giving my team opportunities. Just play ball."
He might not say much, but his play speaks volumes.
"He's very quiet," Ottawa Hills head coach Derrick King, Sr. said. "He's very humble. He's a man of very few words. I'll tell you right now the kid, leadership wise, he steps up every day in practice. Not vocally, but as a player. As a player on the team, he wins all springs if he can. We have a lot of competitive things going on in practice. They make it tough on him. He buys into stepping in when we need him to hit a big shot. We run certain things for him and it's a good chance that he knocks down a shot. He's having a historic season. He is one of the best players to come out of Ottawa in years."
Hureskin has a few offers to play at the next level for a few junior colleges.
