GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — National signing day took over West Michigan especially at Forest Hills Central High School with several Rangers putting pen to paper to play at the next level.
Junior Max Richardson made a surprising move, reclassifying to the class of 2024 so he could enroll at Stanford one year early.
However, he was not the only football star from FHC who caught up 13 ON YOUR SIDE on Wednesday afternoon.
One of the best players on the state champion Rangers was no doubt JT Hartman, who was a leader on the FHC offense and defense.
He signed with Davenport on Wednesday afternoon, and the former 13 ON YOUR SIDELINES MVP of the Week is excited to be playing close to home.
"I thought it was a great fit for me. I love the coaches," Hartman said. "I love the campus. It was just an amazing fit. Go in and compete. Work hard every day and see what happens. Wait my time and put in a lot of hard work. I am super excited. I am super excited for the opportunity to keep competing and go to Davenport University."
One of Hartman's teammates also gets a chance to play college football at the next level.
Forest Hills Central senior Drew Fortino will play ball at Kalamazoo College.
The star defensive back recorded his first career pick-six in the state title game, and now he hopes he can do the same down south.
"It is really exciting to have all this hard work pay off," Fortino said. "All of the years working hard is paying off. It's pretty exciting. Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted to play in college. It's truly a dream come true to get that opportunity no matter what level just to get the chance to play at the next level."
