WYOMING, Mich. — The newest Meijer Scholar Athlete of the week is always hard at work, whether it's on the court or in the classroom.
Wyoming High School student Ta'Tyana Hardiman knows the balancing act of being a student athlete better than most.
The senior basketball player is in the Middle College Program at her school, which means she is already taking college classes.
She also played a huge role in leading the Wolves' girls basketball team to one of the best seasons in program history.
On top of basketball, Hardiman babysits and volunteers at her church to mentor kids.
With all of that on her plate, she maintains a 3.8 GPA. Hardiman gives credit to the people around her for her own success.
"For me, it is just staying on top of everything and trusting the people around me to keep me on track with my work and everything like that," Hardiman said. "I have a really good support system with my parents. They do not let me slack off a lot. That helps out on the court and in class. I would say trust the people around you and use the people around you, talk to the people around you and just stay confident in yourself in school or on the court or whatever your sport is."
Hardiman has torn both of her ACLs so she aims to be a physical therapist to help others like they helped her.
She will attend Grand Rapids Community College before transferring to Grand Valley State.
