HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — The newest Meijer Scholar Athlete of the week knows all about the juggling act between sports and school.
Hudsonville High School student Elly Koopman is the definition of a student athlete.
The senior Eagle excels in both basketball and softball, but is also in the school's student leaders initiating change group and the national honor society with a 4.22 GPA.
Koopman says it all comes down to being productive with her time.
"I think it just takes time management," Koopman said. "It really just depends on your priorities. Some priorities are more important like sports and school but other priorities like hanging out with your friends or doing other things might not be as important. It is just good time management and also being willing to sacrifice things that might be more important than others."
Koopman will play softball in college at Wayne State, which is where she plans to study pharmacy. She wants to go into the medical field like her mom, who is a nurse.
