GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Our next Meijer Scholar Athlete might not have been a scholar athlete to start high school, but has pulled a full 180 to get on the right path.
Grand Rapids Christian High School student Ethan Ogle is a great leader.
The senior is the captain on the Eagles hockey team but he is not just involved on the ice. He has so many activities on his plate.
Ogle is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletics, student congress, the executive branch and the formation branch.
On top of that, he's in the school's national honor society with a 3.85 GPA.
Ogle says he came to the realization halfway through high school to kick it into gear, and it paid off.
"I learned that the hard way through my freshman and sophomore year," Ogle said. "I kinda lacked in school a little. I wasn't really disciplined doing my work outside of school, but I really locked in junior and senior year. It's been really beneficial for me to just set a schedule to get my work done after school and also balance that with hockey practice. Cutting down on things that weren't needed like time on my phone, time on my games. Just really working on getting my stuff done and knowing once I get my work done I will have free time to spend doing my hobbies."
Ogle plans to play junior hockey after high school. After his hockey-playing career, he wants to go into naval architecture to design boats.
