This week's Meijer Scholar Athlete is Carter Perry

Perry says school always comes first.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Our newest Meijer Scholar Athlete of the Week shines in two sports and still finds the time to get his schoolwork done.

West Catholic senior Carter Perry made the most of his Friday nights in the fall during his four years of high school.

The Falcons wide receiver shined, especially this year. He was named first-team all conference for the OK-Blue. Perry is a pretty good baseball player as well.

On top of that, he is a household leader and an All A's captain with a 3.6 GPA.

Perry says school always comes first.

"Obviously first, if you want to perform on the field, you have to perform in the classroom," Perry said. "Obviously, taking your school work seriously and taking that first as your responsibility. School always comes first before sports. That's how I attack it. I would say I've always had that because that's how my parents raised me. I can't play unless I perform in the classroom. It's something I always took pride in."

Perry hopes to play baseball in college and is looking for the right fit. He hopes to go down the business route when he is done with college.
