COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — Our next Meijer scholar athlete of the week is a role model in his community and a leader through and through.
Comstock Park student athlete Easton Hood plays three sports in high school: baseball, basketball and football.
His leadership stands out as the senior Panther was named a captain for all three sports he participates in.
However, he does not just shine through athletics, but academics as well.
Hood was a member of junior achievement, where he taught kids in elementary schools. He's certainly smart as he is ranked 2nd in his class with a 4.132 GPA.
The NHS member says being a good student athlete comes down to hard work and determination.
"I'd say sports helped me a lot," Hood said. "Going through hardships for injuries and getting back to playing. Also, the balance of balancing school and sports. As a student athlete, it is student first. Just doing my best every day in the classroom trying to get better every day. Just like you go to practice every day to get better, in the classroom, you gotta be willing to go every day to get better academically too."
The plan for Hood is to play college football somewhere in Michigan. Wherever he goes to school, he aims to study pre-med in hopes of becoming a physicians assistant someday.
