KENTWOOD, Mich. — After 10 seasons leading the Falcon football team, head coach Tony Kimbrough is retiring.

East Kentwood High School will miss him on the sidelines but also celebrates his work fostering students off the field.

He will continue to serve as a behavior specialist at East Kentwood High School.

“We want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to Coach Kimbrough for his unwavering commitment and service to East Kentwood High School,” said East Kentwood Athletic Director Blaine Brumels. “We look forward to the continued impact he will make in his role as a behavior specialist and the ongoing support he will provide to our students.”

The 59-year-old played at the college level first at Grand Rapids Community College before transferring to Western Michigan University. In 1988, he earned the MAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Kimbrough played quarterback in the Canadian Football League as well as arena football.

The school's athletic department has already begun the search for the next varsity football coach.
