HOLLAND, Mich. — The Hope College women's basketball team defeated New York University on Saturday and punched their ticket to the Final Four.
The victory took place at DeVos Fieldhouse in front of thousands of Hope College fans cheering the team on.
The Flying Dutch haven't lost a game since January, including four wins in the Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.
They take on Trine University, which is the only team to defeat Hope College in the 2021-22 season, in the Final Four.
Hope College has played Trine University three times this season and won two of the games, including the championship game in the MIAA Tournament.
Hope College was ranked second in the nation going into the tournament and was a number one seed in their region. The overall number one ranked school, Christopher Newport University, was knocked out in the Sweet Sixteen, making Hope the highest ranked team left in the tournament.
Trine University was ranked fifth overall going into the tournament and was a number two seed in their region.
The Flying Dutch have earned two NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championships out of three appearances in the finals. Hope College hung their National Championship banners in 1990 and 2006 and were runners-up in 2010.
The game is scheduled for Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at the A. J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
