'We have one goal and that's a Super Bowl' | Lions begin 2024 training camp

The Lions began training camp on Wednesday in Allen Park.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — On Wednesday, the Lions held their first day of training camp at the team's headquarters in Allen Park. Detroit is coming off an NFC North title and a trip to the NFC Championship game.

"It's all about the work, we don't live off reputation," said head coach Dan Campbell. "It's been a long, hard road to get to where we are at right now and there's a price to be paid, and we have to go pay it again."

Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown led the team with 1,515 receiving yards last season. "I can truthfully say this season it is not even playoffs," said St. Brown. "It's not the number one seed, it's winning the Super Bowl and it's the first year I feel that truly as a team we all feel the same way."

"We checked two boxes last season and we have one more to check," said Campbell. "To get there we have to check those first two, one more time."

The Lions have the luxury of returning their core players and coaches in 2024, letting the team hit the ground running during training camp.

"It doesn't mean that there aren't going to be mistakes," said Campbell. "We should look so much crisper, we should pick up where we left off in the spring."

The Lions head coach believes the key is this season is sticking to the standard set a year ago and not letting their guard down.

"Man, if you start patting yourself on the back and you don't believe that everything that it took to get there, it's going to take again and then some, you'll just be stuck."

The group ended day one not shying around from its goal for this season, the Lions want to win the Super Bowl.

"I think we all know what the goal is, it doesn't need to be said," said St. Brown. As a team we have one goal and that's a Super Bowl.

The Lions will be back at practice on Thursday morning and will put the pads on for the first time on Monday.
