GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids coach was crowned the Detroit Lions Coach of the Week.
South Christian High School's Danny Brown is the week two recipient of the 2024 High School Football Coach of the Week Program.
The Sailors defeated East Grand Rapids 42-28 last Friday and are going 2-0 on the season. South Christian is ranked first in Division 4 right now.
Brown is in his 14th season of coaching high school football. All of them have been spent at South Christian.
He led them to the State Championship in 2022 and the state runner-up in 2023.
In his six years as head coach, Brown has compiled a 48-15 (76.2%) overall record, leading the Sailors to the playoffs in of those seasons. In his eight years as assistant coach, he helped lead the team in a similarly impressive fashion.
The Sailors travel to Grand Rapids West Catholic to take on the Falcons on Friday. It'll be the third matchup between the two programs of all time.
