GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Michigan native and volleyball standout is returning to her home state after signing with the Grand Rapids Rise ahead of the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation season.

Outside hitter Carli Snyder has been a standout player since she was in high school in Macomb in the early 2010s.

“Signing with the Grand Rapids Rise feels like my volleyball career coming full circle back to the place where I fell in love with the game,” Snyder said. “I am so very excited to return to my home state and put in the work with the team and staff to win a championship.”

She played at Dakota High School and Michigan Elite, being named to the All-American First Team all four years, earning Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons and becoming the 2013 Miss Michigan Volleyball selection.

Snyder led Dakota High School to a 2012 Class A State Championship and still holds school records for kills, digs and aces.

Snyder played for four years in college at the University of Florida, finishing with 3,338 career attack attempts, the eight-most in program history. She was named to the AVCA All-American Team three times, the All-SEC Team twice and helped the Gators win three conference championships in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

While Snyder was on the team, the Gators reached the 2017 NCAA National Championship match but lost 3-1 to Nebraska despite Snyder's team-high 11 kills and 15 digs in the match.

After college, Snyder played professionally in France for six years in the French Ligue A where she was named the best outside hitter twice. She also earned the best outside hitter and best server awards in the French Cup in 2022-23.

Snyder is the first player to be signed to the Grand Rapids Rise ahead of the 2025 season, but the organization says additional player acquisition announcements will follow this month.

The Rise reached the championship match last year during the inaugural season of the Pro Volleyball Federation.

The 2025 season is expected to kick off sometime in January.
