GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Gucci and Louis Vuitton may not have anything on this week's Meijer Scholar Athlete by the time she’s able to leave her mark on the fashion industry.
Though 17-year-old Marissa Menard is just a senior at Wyoming, this four-sport athlete has big dreams and doesn’t mind putting in the work to get there. In fact, using skills acquired in art class, she’s well on her way to designing the clothes that could very well be in stores and online one day.
“I think my main goal is altering the silhouette of clothes,” she explains. "I don’t know what that is going to look like right now, but I know that is one of my main goals.”
So, does that mean baggy clothes could be making a comeback?
“I might [do it],” she adds smiling.
Menard has a 3.5 GPA. She has not decided where she’s going to school just yet.
