(DETROIT FREE PRESS) - The Detroit Lions are making another change at kicker.

The Lions cut Alex Henery today, after Henery missed three field goals in Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills, coach Jim Caldwell said.

Henery missed a 44-yarder off of the right upright in the first half and badly missed kicks of 47 and 50 yards in the second half.

After his 50-yarder, the potential game winner, landed short and wide left, the Bills completed a 20-yard pass to Sammy Watkins to set up Dan Carpenter's game-winning 58-yard field goal with four seconds to play.

Between Henery and rookie Nate Freese, who won the job in training camp but was released after his fourth miss of the season in Week 3, the Lions have made just 4 of 12 field goals this year and are 1-for-9 on kicks longer than 40 yards.

Henery was 1-for-5 in two weeks with the Lions (3-2).

The Lions will bring in several kickers for a workout Tuesday, and Caldwell indicated that an experienced leg is something he'll be looking for.

Former Michigan kicker Jay Feely, who was released by the Arizona Cardinals at the end of the preseason, and Matt Prater, who was cut by the Denver Broncos last week and is eligible to be reinstated from a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy are two potential additions.
