HAMILTON, Mich. — The students at Hamilton Middle School have had plenty of snow days lately, so staff have been looking for a way to get students engaged and focused.
On Wednesday, they decided to turn to the Detroit Lions—the biggest story in sports—for a little help.
Everywhere you went in the middle school, it was just about as loud as the record-breaking crowds at Ford Field the last two weeks.
"They've really jumped on that wagon," said Ken Lentz, the dean of students at Hamilton Middle School.
The school worked to harness the Lions fever in the spirit day, making class a fun time to show off your best Lions gear.
Sixth grader Anabell knew exactly what she wanted to wear once she heard the news.
"I rushed to my room and I was like, 'Lions hoodie,'" she said.
Her fellow student, Blake, went with family tradition, sporting a hat his dad used to wear when he was a kid.
"I'm wearing it because ever since we brought it out, the Lions have been winning and winning," Blake said. "And hopefully they come to the Super Bowl this year."
The staff got involved too—even Lentz—who had to make his own Lions shirt.
"I made a last-minute stop at Meijer and Walmart yesterday and didn't find anything," he laughed.
The Detroit Lions have not only been able to excite their fanbase this year, but have also managed to make coming back to school exciting, too.
