LAS VEGAS — Super Bowl LVIII is less than a month away and tickets for the big game are becoming harder to get.
Eight teams remain in the hunt for their spot in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11 and as that field narrows down, the cost of attending the Super Bowl will certainly go up.
We are going to estimate the cost of one person, traveling from Grand Rapids, to attend the Super Bowl. For the estimate, we will look at Super Bowl ticket prices, the cost of a roundtrip flight, prices for hotels in Las Vegas and other general costs.
For the price estimations, we used various ticket selling websites, airline companies and hotel booking websites. The estimations are not exact and better deals could be available. The prices used in this article were as listed on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
How much are Super Bowl LVIII tickets?
Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster and resale companies like StubHub and SeatGeek.
Ticketmaster still has a few dozen tickets available, but they are almost entirely "verified resale" tickets and range in price from $10,250 to $53,500.
StubHub has around 300 tickets available, with prices ranging from $6,626 to $64,800 each. Some of the tickets must be purchased in pairs, with some of these pairs only in the same section and not next to one another.
Seat Geek has just under 160 tickets available, starting at $6,670 each and going up to $63,210 each. Some of the tickets must be purchased in pairs, while others can be purchased individually. It isn't clear if the seats will be located next to one another.
Cheapest cost: Single ticket from StubHub for $8,621 ($6,626 for the ticket and $1,994 for "fulfillment and service fees")
How much are Las Vegas hotels during Super Bowl LVIII?
Hotel prices are usually pretty cheap in Las Vegas because they want you to spend your money in their casinos, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.
Historically, Las Vegas hotel prices go up every Super Bowl, and now that Super Bowl LVIII is being played in the city, those prices are even higher.
The prices for hotels in Las Vegas range from about $200 a night all the way up to several thousand dollars a night. You can also find cheaper rooms outside of the city or by booking a bed in a communal room.
Airbnb prices for the Las Vegas area are actually more reasonable for Super Bowl weekend, ranging from just under $70 a night up to nearly $1,000 a night.
For estimating the hotel cost, we will book a room in a hotel near downtown for Saturday and Sunday nights.
Cheapest cost: Two nights at Longhorn Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas for $473, including taxes and fees.
How much are flights to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII?
Just like hotel prices in Las Vegas, flights to the city are normally pretty cheap, but that isn't the case for Super Bowl weekend.
Roundtrip flights from Grand Rapids to Las Vegas are available all weekend with different options for departure and arrival dates.
We looked at the prices out of Gerald R. Ford International Airport for flights departing on Saturday and Sunday and returning on Monday.
Leaving Grand Rapids on Sunday and returning on Monday will get you the cheapest tickets for the weekend, but chances are you will be cutting it close to getting into Allegiant Stadium before kickoff.
The cheapest roundtrip flight is through Allegiant Airlines for $424 and is a non-stop flight to Las Vegas departing at 2:09 p.m. EDT and landing in Vegas at 3:37 p.m. PDT. Earlier arrival times are available if you are willing to spend a little more. Prices range from $424 to $1,402 when departing on Sunday and returning on Monday.
There are more options when flying out on Saturday and returning on Monday, with prices ranging from $455 to $1,327 for roundtrip flights. But tickets on the cheaper end will include some pretty long layovers with total travel times lasting around eight to 12 hours.
For estimating the cost here, we decided to use a flight departing on Saturday and returning on Monday to ensure that there is time to check into a hotel and get to the stadium for the game.
*Cheapest cost: Single roundtrip ticket from Frontier Airlines for $588.
*Note: There is a cheaper flight from Frontier, but it has a 22 hour layover and 31 hours of total travel time.
