EAST LANSING, Mich. — A former Michigan State University athlete secured a spot on Team USA.
Tori Franklin qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics in the triple jump. She did it with a 13.72m leap, earning a bronze medal in the June 22 U.S. trials.
It's not her first time in the Olympics. Franklin also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing 25th.
She took home a bronze at the World Championships in 2022, becoming the first American woman to medal in the triple jump at the event. No American had previously ever finished better than fourth in the event.
Franklin is still the Michigan State record holder in the outdoor triple jump with a leap of 13.41m, in 2013, officials say.
The track & field events at the Paris Olympics take place from August 1 to 11.
The qualifying round of the women's triple jump is Friday, August 2, with finals on August 3.
