Grand Rapids native Devin Booker competed on the hardwood in Paris for the U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball Team for the second time in his career. And, also for the second time in his career, he brought home a gold medal.

Booker was instrumental in the United States' fifth consecutive gold medal in basketball, starting as a guard and scoring 15 points in the final match.

And despite the MVP award going to Lebron James, Team USA coach Steve Kerr highlighted Booker's performance throughout the Olympics.

“Devin Booker is an incredible basketball player,” Kerr said. “Nobody asked about him. He was our unsung MVP. I just wanted to say that.”

Booker, born in Grand Rapids, plays for the Phoenix Suns and completed his college career at the University of Kentucky. He lived in the West Michigan area through his freshman year in high school before moving to Missouri. Booker played on the Grandville High School basketball team during his freshman year.

Michigander Grant Fisher became the first American to medal in both the Men's 5,000m and 10,000m event, bringing home a bronze medal in both races.

Canadian-born Fisher grew up in Grand Blanc and while in high school he earned the honor of becoming the seventh American high school student to run a mile under four minutes.

The 2024 Paris Summer Games was the second trip to the Olympics for Fisher, who competed in Tokyo in 2021 but did not earn any medals.

Caledonia native Alena Olsen helped the United States Women's Olympic Rugby Sevens Team bring home the team's first medal ever. Team USA earned a bronze after falling short in 2020 and 2016.

Olsen's first Olympic appearance was as a scrumhalf on the field. In her position, Olsen acts as a link between the forwards and the backs and will be responsible for making quick decisions and connecting plays on the field.

Olsen played volleyball and soccer in high school and didn't start playing rugby until she was an 18-year-old freshman at the University of Michigan

She made her USA Rugby debut in 2019 in the Glendale Sevens where the USA won the tournament. She was also part of the U.S. sevens roster that finished fourth in the 2022 Rugby World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.
