Dead bobcat found in Montcalm County

A spokesperson for the DNR said he thinks the bobcat was hit by a car on Jenks Road and thrown into the bushes.

MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking into what could have killed a bobcat found near the Montcalm County and Ionia County line yesterday. 

A spokesperson for the DNR said he thinks the bobcat was hit by a car on Jenks Road and thrown into the bushes The DNR received a call about it Tuesday and went to the scene Wednesday. 

The DNR said the bobcat will go to a state lab in Lansing to determine the cause of death.

Bobcats have black coloring on the end of their tails and the tips of their ears. They have been spotted in the lower peninsula before but are more common in the upper peninsula.The DNR said there is a report of a bobcat hit by a car almost every year in Michigan.
