GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A crash involving a semi truck left one person in critical condition Wednesday in Grand Rapids.
The incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. near Alpine Avenue and Pannell Street.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the semi truck pulled onto northbound Alpine but was not able to completely get into the lane because of traffic congestion; thus, the semi was blocking some of the southbound lanes. A vehicle traveling south then struck the trailer of the semi while attempting to merge into the southbound lane.
Grand Rapids Police said the male driver had to be extricated by the Grand Rapids Fire Department. The drivers injuries are believed to be minor at this time and he should be released Wednesday.
