Aerosol 'huffing' may be the reason for fatal Newaygo County crash, deputies say

GARFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man is dead and another person injured after a crash in Newaygo County Saturday evening.

The Newaygo County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 7:40 p.m. Crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash in Garfield Township on W 48th St near S Ferris Avenue. 

Deputies say the vehicle veered off the road and ran into a pole barn. The driver, a 19-year-old Newaygo man, was killed in the crash. His passenger was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. 

Deputies say aerosol "huffing" is believe to be a factor in the crash and will continue to investigate.
