IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — A 29-year-old man from Grand Rapids was killed in a multi-car crash Saturday in Orange Township on I-96 east of M-66, according to the Michigan State Police.
Kevin Coulter was a passenger in the backseat of a car that was hit from behind by a car driven by a 34-year-old man from Detroit.
The Detroit man failed to slow down on the highway and hit several cars from behind, police said. The crash caused traffic to slow down around 7 p.m. Saturday.
Police did not say if there were any injuries to the person who was driving the Grand Rapids man, or if anyone else involved was injured. They are still investigating the cause of the crash but believe that speed and failing to pay attention while driving are factors in this crash.
Editor's note: Police originally stated the victim of the crash was a 24-year-old man. The story has been updated.
