Crash involving deer hurts 2 motorcycle riders

A deer in the road is to blame for a chain reaction crash that put two motorcycle riders in the hospital.

A deer in the road is to blame for a chain reaction crash that put two motorcycle riders in the hospital.

According to Ottawa County deputies, it happened on Lake Michigan Drive near the corner of 14th Avenue, about half way between Grand Rapids and Allendale.

28-year-old Samuel Grima of Grand Rapids was riding east around 10:30 Thursday, June 8. So was 37-year-old Lars Wendl of Kentwood.

Grima hit a deer and Wendl hit Grima's motorcycle. Both men fell to the ground.

They were both wearing helmets and have been taken to the hospital where they're listed in stable condition.
