POLKTON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich — Eastbound lanes of I-96 were closed Monday evening after a crash which occurred around 7:45 p.m.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office received reports that a semi-truck crashed into the 68th Avenue bridge and that a separate vehicle was in the ditch.

Officers investigated the scene and determined that the 72-year-old Ithaca man driving the semi-truck was pulling two dump style trailers heading eastbound on I-96 when the rear trailer crashed into the 68th Avenue overpass.

Officials said a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old man from Grand Rapids lost control while avoiding the debris and rolled into the ditch.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said neither driver reported any injuries from the incident. The crash is still under investigation.
