WALKER, Mich. — The driver of a semi truck that overturned in Walker Tuesday has been cited, according to police.
The crash happened on eastbound I-96 near exit 28. The semi overturned in the median and spilled metal shavings onto the roadway, closing the eastbound lanes and one of the westbound lanes for several hours.
Crews worked to clean up the metal shavings and investigate the scene.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the westbound lane was reopened around 4:41 p.m., and all lanes had reopened by 8 p.m.
The driver was issued citations for speeding and spilling a load in the roadway.
The driver was uninjured in the crash.
