Gas prices fall below $4 at Sparta gas station

The All American North Country Store in Sparta posted regular unleaded gas at $3.89 per gallon Monday morning for customers paying with cash.

MICHIGAN, USA — Michiganders could see some relief at the pump as gas prices continue to trend downward, and a Sparta gas station has already dropped their prices more than 60 cents below the statewide average.

The All American North Country Store in Sparta posted regular unleaded gas at $3.99 per gallon Monday morning, according to petroleum analysis expert Patrick De Haan. This makes it the first gas station in West Michigan to drop below the $4 mark. Drivers paying with cash can buy a gallon for $3.89, while credit users can pay $3.99, according to GasBuddy

This makes it the first gas station in West Michigan to drop below the $4 mark.

According to AAA, prices in Michigan dropped 18 cents in the past week, bringing the statewide average to $4.63 per gallon of regular unleaded. This is 56 cents less than a month ago and $1.36 more than July 2021.

To fill up a 15-gallon tank, expect to pay about $69.

Despite this, De Haan Tweeted Sunday the most common gas price in the nation is $3.99 per gallon, dropping after months of record-high prices.

AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland says prices will likely continue to drop as long as current trends continue.

"Michigan motorists have seen pump prices drop 56 cents over the past month," said Woodland. "If the recent supply/demand dynamics hold, drivers will likely continue to see pump prices decline."

Marquette ($4.92), Ann Arbor ($4.74) and Traverse City ($4.72) have some of the highest prices per gallon.
