GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — While gas prices have remained steady in West Michigan, experts say prices may soon be on the decline.

Over the past week, the average price for gas has dropped one cent, now sitting at an average of $3.27 per gallon of regular unleaded gas. This is 11 cents cheaper than this time last month and 14 cents cheaper than this time last year.

AAA is estimating it would cost $49 for a full 15-gallon tank of gas at that price.

Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson for AAA, said prices may be on the downturn soon.

"With the state average down just one penny from a week ago, Michigan gas prices have held steady," said Woodland. "If gas demand falls, alongside lower crude oil prices, pump prices could follow suit."

Grand Rapids' average gas price is sitting slightly above the statewide average, but it remains lower than other areas in Michigan.

AAA reports the cheapest gas in the state is in Benton Harbor ($3.16), Flint ($3.21) and Traverse City ($3.23). On the other hand, Ann Arbor ($3.32), Metro Detroit ($3.31) and Jackson ($3.29) are seeing some of the most expensive gas in Michigan.
