GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The intersection of Fulton Street and Division Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids officially reopened following months of construction, a city spokesperson confirmed Saturday evening.
The intersection had been closed since July for work on a $5 million reconstruction project to improve various utilities.
The reopening of the intersection is long-anticipated, as it was originally supposed to happen in October.
According to a city spokesperson, while construction was underway to install new traffic signal foundations, crews found old areaway walls that needed to be removed. This postponed the opening until November.
The official reopening had then been planned for the week of Nov. 11. It was going to reopen on Friday, but the rain delayed the addition of new pavement markings until Saturday.
