Crash kills moped driver in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) is investigating a crash that killed a moped driver Friday afternoon.

Police said around 3:30 p.m. on Friday officers responded to the scene at the 1300 block of Sherman St. SE.

GRPD's initial investigation determined the moped driver ran a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Giddings Ave. SE.

The moped driver was transported to the hospital with critical injuries and passed away shortly after.

Officials said there were no other injuries reported in the crash and that the other driver remained on scene, cooperating with investigators.
