KENT COUNTY, Mich — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Rockford Post are investigating a three-vehicle crash that left a Comstock Park man dead.
According to a press release from MSP, it happened around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Alpine Avenue and Westshire Drive in Alpine Township.
MSP said a minivan traveling south on Alpine Avenue attempted to turn onto Westshire Drive. The driver failed to stop for another vehicle traveling north on Alpine. MSP said the crash caused the minivan to struck a third vehicle, a pickup truck, which was stopped at the stop sign on Westshire Drive.
The driver of the minivan, an 85-year-old man from the Comstock Park area, was transported to the hospital by Life EMS and was later pronounced dead. MSP said he succumbed to injuries he sustained in the crash.
The driver in the second vehicle was hospitalized and released with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
MSP said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, but the investigation is still ongoing.
